Tea Board proposes Rs 100 crore package for Darjeeling gardens
The Tea Board has submitted a Rs 100-crore package proposal to the Centre for the Darjeeling tea industry, which is readying restart of operations after the prolonged shutdown in the hills. The Darjeeling Tea Association (DTA), however, had sought a much higher package to compensate for the revenue loss and for payments to workers till the start of next production.

Indian shipments of garlic have zoomed thanks to output shrinkage in China, the world’s largest producer, making it the hottest commodity in India’s spice export basket. In the first quarter of the year India exported 18,000 tonnes valued at Rs 123.84 crore, a staggering increase of 169% in quantity and 107% in value, the highest growth among the spices exported from India including the usual top performing ones like chilli, cumin and spice oleoresins.

Niti Aayog working with states for agri market reforms

Coffee Board forecasts record post blossom coffee crop for 2017-18
Coffee Board has projected a record post blossom estimate of coffee crop for 2017-18 contrary to the views expressed by the growers. The post blossom forecast has been placed at 350,400 tonnes comprising 103,100 tonnes of arabica and 247,300 tonnes of robusta, showing over 12% (38400 tonnes) rise over the final estimate of coffee harvest of 2016-17.
